About
Sigmund Ongstad har norsk hovedfag og doktorgrad i anvendt språkvitenskap og har bakgrunn som mangeårig lærer i skole og lærerutdanning samt som forskningskonsulent i Forsøksrådet for skoleverket og Norges almenvitenskapelige forskningsråd. Han har sittet i styret for Nasjonal forskerskole for lærerutdanning og ledet flere morsmålsdidaktiske forskernettverk. Hans forskning har særlig vært rettet mot læreplaner, skoleskriving, kommunikasjonsteori og fagdidaktikk og han har (med-)redigert flere antologier på disse fagfeltene, senest boka Morsmålsdidaktisk forskning og profesjonalisert lærerutdanning. Fem nordiske beretninger om 50 års utvikling og kamp. Forskningen rettes nå mot ytringsteoriers relevans for utdanning og biosemiotikk. I 2022 publiserte han f.eks. artiklene Simple utterances, but complex understanding? og Conceptions of context samt Utterance theory and validation of disciplinary knowledge in a ‘post-truth‘ era.
