Bergets forskningsinteresser er innenfor universell utforming, interaktiv informasjonsgjenfinning, menneske maskin interaksjon og tilgjengelig litteratur. Hun har gjennomført flere brukerstudier, der hovedformålet har vært å forstå brukeres informasjonssøkeatferd og undersøke hvordan man kan utvikle søkesystemer som fungerer bedre for personer med kognitive funksjonsvariasjoner. Eksempler på grupper som er involvert i Bergets brukerstudier er personer med dysleksi og utviklingshemming. Hun har også skrevet flere metodologiske artikler om universell utforming, forskningsmetode og etikk. Et annet felt hun har jobbet mye med, er litteratur for alle. Der har hun blant annet gjennomført flere prosjekter sammen med organisasjonen Leser søker bok.

Utviklingsprogrammet skal styrke arbeidsinkluderingen i bydelen. Prosjektet går ut på medarbeiderdrevet organisasjonsutvikling basert på en dialogisk kunnskapsproduksjon mellom forskning og praksis.
