Mikko Laamanen er forskningsleder og forsker I i Forbruksforskningsinstituttet SIFOs forskningsgruppe Teknologi og bærekraft. Han har PhD fra Hanken Svenska handelshögskolan (Finland) og har hatt akademiske stillinger i Finland, Frankrike, Storbritannia og Tyskland.

Mikkos forskning ligger i skjæringspunktet mellom forbrukssosiologi, organisasjonsforskning og studier av sosiale bevegelser. Han er ekspert på hverdagspolitikken for teknologi, inkludering og sosial endring. Hans nåværende prosjekter undersøker blant annet

Mikkos forskning er publisert i ledende tidsskrifter og antologier innen markedsføring og ledelse, forbrukssosiologi, organisasjonssosiologi, studier av sosiale bevegelser og miljøstudier. Han er redaksjonsmedlem i Consumption and Society og Journal of Macromarketing.

Mikko er koordinator for European Sociological Associations forskningsnettverket Sociology of Consumption (RN05). Han er tilknyttet forsker ved Sustainable Europe Research Institute SERI (Tyskland), Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society (Tyskland) og Center for Organizational Research COR ved University of California, Irvine (USA).
