Unni Kjærnes, cand real i ernæring og phd i sosiologi, er seniorforsker ved Forbruksforskningsinstituttet SIFO, Høyskolen i Oslo og Akershus. Hun har fokusert på forbrukerperspektiver i matpolitikk i Norge, Europa og India, særlig hvordan forbruksmønstre, holdninger til matspørsmål og tillit påvirkes av forsyningsstrukturer og politikk. En rekke matpolitiske saker er berørt: mattrygghet, ernæring, miljømessig bærekraft, dyrevelferd og matsikkerhet.
