About
Ida H. Sandbekken is an Associate Professor in the nursing program and Deputy Leader of the research group Quality of Life. She holds a PhD entitled Hand Hygiene, Infection Prevention and Antibiotic Use in Nursing Homes, and has extensive experience in infection prevention and control.
During the pandemic, she and Borghild Løyland developed several infection control courses for Oslo Municipality, the Norwegian Hairdressers and Wellness Enterprises, as well as courses for students and staff at OsloMet.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Buskerud University College and a Master’s degree in Nursing – Clinical Research and Professional Development from Oslo and Akershus University College. In her master’s thesis, she used data from the nationwide survey Life cOurse, Gender and Generation (LOGG) to examine the quality of life and job satisfaction of nurses.
Ida also has clinical experience from nursing homes, surgical wards, emergency departments, and casualty clinics.

The purpose of this study is to increasing adherence with hand hygiene, contributing to the reduction of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and reducing the use of antibiotics in nursing homes.
