Professor Margreth Grotle har vært professor i helsefag ved OsloMet – storbyuniversitetet siden 2013, og har en 20 % bistilling ved Avdeling for forskning og innovasjon, Oslo universitetssykehus. Hun har over 25 års erfaring innen forskning på muskel- og skjeletthelse, særlig rygglidelser, men også artrose og revmatiske sykdommer.

Fra 2013 til 2021 ledet hun masterprogrammet i fysioterapi og etablerte forskergruppen Muskel- og skjeletthelse (MUSK Health) i 2015. I dag leder hun Senter for intelligent muskel- og skjeletthelse (CIM) – et tverrfaglig samarbeid mellom forskere innen helsefag og datavitenskap som utvikler innovative helseløsninger ved bruk av kunstig intelligens.

Grotle er også æresprofessor ved Keele University i Storbritannia og ved Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) i Sydney.
